“Finding Home" - special guest Richard Blanco

Join for an incredible event with this famed poet and writer. "Finding Home" will include readings from several of Richard's poems. He'll approach the topic through the lens of his personal journey as a gay Cuban-American and will touch on universal questions we all ask ourselves on our own journeys: Where am I from? Where do I belong? Who am I in this world?

Following the service, Richard will host an informal reading, discussion and book signing from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Books will be available for purchase thanks to Books & Books.

Event sponsored by UU Miami's Herrschaft Lecture and Cultural Fund.

At UU Miami, we encourage spiritual and ethical exploration, education and dialogue. Our liberal faith community celebrates diversity, dignity and the rights of each and every person, and encourages the pursuit of personal and world peace. Respecting and protecting the Earth in all her bounty is among our revered principles.

We encourage you to visit with us for worship; together we commit to promoting compassion, justice and peace in our community and in the world.

Our Unitarian Universalist Principles

There are seven principles which Unitarian Universalist congregations affirm and promote:

  • The inherent worth and dignity of every person;
  • Justice, equity and compassion in human relations;
  • Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth in our congregations;
  • A free and responsible search for truth and meaning;
  • The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society at large;
  • The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all;
  • Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.
