September 2013

The Rev. Wendy Pantoja

Welcome back, members and friends!

Welcome, newcomers and first time visitors!

I hope you have all had a restful summer.  The start of a new congregational year is always very exciting.  We bring new stories to tell and look forward to all the wonderful ministry that we can do together.

By the time of the ingathering service, the Board of Trustees and the Committee on Ministry will have had their retreats with the facilitation of the Reverend Wendy von Zirpolo, minister of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Marblehead in Massachusetts. The Worship Committee will have had their retreat with yours truly and all groups are busy preparing for the tasks that will contribute toward another successful congregational year.

Returning to a recent trend in Unitarian Universalist congregations of what we may loosely call a liturgical calendar, I have selected themes to guide our worship services each month as well as other parts of our ministry.  This year’s themes are as follow:

September – Building Community        February – Love thy Neighbor
October – The Learning Church            March – Am I My Siblings Keeper?
November – Gratitude                            April – Doing Church Together
December – Our Diverse Theologies     May – Celebration
January – New Beginnings                     June - Appreciation

These themes are meant to weave a thread of continuity in our spiritual explorations and our work together. While some specific topics have already been chosen, there is still room for suggestions. And, if you have a topic that fits within anyone of these themes and would like to lead the congregation in its exploration during a lay-led service, please let the Worship Committee or me know so we can put you on the schedule.

Building Community is a natural topic to begin a new congregational year. Our life experiences always make an impact on us and change us in some ways. After a time in which many of us have been apart from each other, it is always good to explore how we are going to reconnect and make this religious community stronger than before.

En paz y fe,
Rev. Wendypaz
