The Rev. Wendy Pantoja

Ministry is what we do as religious individuals and as a religious community—how we engage with each other, with the greater community, and with the world.  It is also how and what we do and say to make this a better world.  Although you have called an ordained minister, the work of ministry does not rest on the shoulders of the religious professional alone.  Each and every person of our religious community has a share in it.

What does the work consist of?  It runs the gamut from governance

  • to participating in and creating worship,
  • to supporting our children, youth, and young adults,
  • to maintaining our buildings and grounds,
  • to advocating for social justice,
  • to volunteering for tasks essential to nurturing the vitality of congregational life,
  • to sustaining our financial health,
  • and much more.

Some of this work happens behind the scenes and some in public. Some of it may seem glamorous and glorifying, and some may be tedious, boring, and even downright bothersome. Some of it may involve special skills but most of it only requires love of this religious community and a commitment to its ongoing existence as a beacon of liberal religious thought and practice.

Its measure of success depends on the extent to which we

  • choose the greater good,
  • participate to the best of our ability,
  • see no task as too small or too great,
  • live into the vision of what we can be,
  • engage it with love.

Ours is a shared ministry. It needs everyone’s support and participation. It is a joint spiritual venture for you and me.

En paz y fe,
Rev. Wendypaz
